EFT Counselling for Couples
Couples Counselling
I will help you have some very different conversations than the ones you have at home when you are not getting on.
These will generally feel more productive and creative, as well as emotionally safer and more insightful.
This will help you to communicate more honestly and understand both your own experience and each other’s experience of the relationship better.
These are challenging conversations, involving significant discomfort and emotional pain at times, but I will do my best to be alongside you and to guide things kindly and carefully.
I am trained in Dr Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focussed Therapy, created specifically to get underneath couples’ stuck or habitual ways of arguing, criticising or avoiding each other when things are tough. It doesn’t focus on ‘who said what’ or ‘who did what’, and doesn’t take sides. It doesn’t focus on the practical issues that are the content of arguments.
It does support each of you, and help you to really recognise and understand how you both feel, how you create the pain you are in together, and how you can help yourselves and each other, over time, to not fall into the same habitual difficulties.
